Jesenice-based Acroni has invested €32 million to create 50 new jobs

Acroni, the Jesenice-based steel maker has opened a new production line following an investment of €32 million. The new line is expected to create a further 50 jobs at the company which already employs 1,100 workers at the Jesenice site.

The company, which is part of the Russian-owned SIJ Group, also plans to invest a further €30 million in 2017 in order to  a new furnace that will improve the efficiency of the production of specialised stainless steel. It is envisaged that this move will lead to the creation of an additional 20 jobs.

The new equipment will enable Acroni to move into new markets and optimise its processes for those markets it currents participates in. The company makes steel for use in the aviation, automotive and mining industries among others.
