Kranjska Gora is situated in north western Slovenia near its borders with Austria and Italy. Kranjska Gora is a picturesque romantic and popular alpine village and is Slovenia’s most famous ski resort and is a regular venue for World Cup Races and the world’s best skiers compete annually here for the Vitranc Trophy in World Cup men’s giant slalom. With the town being near to both the Austrian and Italian borders means that skier’s can get access to three different countries all in close proximity to each other on one single pass.

The imposing peaks of the Julian Alps dominate the skyline around the resort and dense fairytale alpine forests stretch from Mojstrana to Rateče. Kranjska Gora also touches Triglav National.

The Kranjska Gora ski lifts are the oldest in all of Slovenia. The lifts are easily reached and because of their altitude, with the lower station being just 813 meters and offer favorable snow and weather conditions and are therefore suitable for skiers of all abilities. Beginners can take on the slopes and trails in Kranjska Gora and Gozd Martuljek, while experienced skiers can try the more challenging Podkoren trail. Kranjska Gora does not just attract skiers and the area is a destination for nature lovers and hikers all year round.

Walkers can enjoy the Zelenci area, the Tamar valley, and the tri-border region, and mountain hikers can try the numerous marked trails through the Karavanke Mountains and Julian Alps. For cyclists, Vršič Pass is a challenging ride and the area has more than 150 kilometers of marked bicycle trails and a mountain bike park. For fishing, Jasna Lake and the Sava, Pišnica, and Bistrica rivers have an abundance of trout and people travel from all over the world to enjoy the world class fishing available in the area. For those who enjoy heights, there are plenty of places that cater for Para gliders. Finally, children can visit the land of the legendary boy hero Kekec and enjoy the summer sled run.
