The Intercontinental Group hotel which is the first 5-star in the Slovenian capital has welcomed its first guests.

It’s to be officially inaugurated at the end of September but the first guests were welcomed to Ljubljana’s first 5-star hotel at the weekend. The hotel, which is located close to the Slovenian Stock Exchange, is part of the Intercontinental Group. The location is also close to the shopping and business districts and the Slovenian capital’s main train station, as well as being just a short stroll from the picturesque Old Town and Ljubljanica River.

The 20-storey hotel – which is the second tallest building in Slovenia and the tallest in the centre of Ljubljana – boasts a 155-square-metre presidential suite complete with a Jacuzzi and a fireplace, a swimming pool and wellness centre and a top-floor restaurant run by a Michelin-starred chef, Alfredo Russo from Turin’s Dolce Stil Novo.

Although this is the first 5-star in Ljubljana, there are 5-star hotels in Portorož (the Grand Hotel Kempinski) and at Bled (Grand Hotel Toplice).
