The Kidričevo-based car seat upholstery company is to supply to Airbus

Kidričevo-based Boxmark Leather is to move its focus slightly from car seat upholstery to the aviation sector where they hope to increase business by as much as 20 percent.

One particular project will be carried out in conjunction with Studio Moderna to continue the development of an innovative new seat design: the seat will be lighter than conventional aircraft seats, which is important because reducing the weight of an aircraft plays an important part in reducing fuel consumption emissions.

Management at the company hope that interest in the design will go beyond Airbus and they are particularly keen to target the UAE. They also hope that significant expansion in this direction could also be expanded in the future to cruise ships.

Currently, the company employs around 2,200 staff and it is expected that, at first, they will be seeking to take on new qualified employees in R&D, and then more production workers as sales increase.
