National Museum Drawing Attention to Slovenian Modernist Glass

divider

The museum in Ljubljana is showcasing works from one of Slovenia’s oldest industries.

It may not be as well known internationally as its Venetian counterpart, but glass making has been an important industry in Slovenia for centuries. Today the glass industry in Slovenia is centred on the towns of Hrastnik and Rogaška slatina. Rogaška glass is known internationally for its style and quality.

The exhibition at the National Museum of Slovenia will continue until the end of September and looks at art glass made at Rogaška as well as glass from Pohorje, which flourished as a glass-making centre in the nineteenth century.
