The Slovenia-based airport shuttle provider secures a share of EU funding to develop its services and improve innovation

Airport shuttle provider GoOpti is one of two Slovenian companies to be awarded funding as part of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 instrument for innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Altogether 50 companies were selected from 14 EU member countries, each getting a share of €73million. The funds are for the development of innovation, something GoOpti has already proved expert at.

GoOpti was launched in Ljubljana in 2011 and now also bring passengers from airports in neighbouring countries to destinations in Slovenia. Passengers can book a place in a shared vehicle, or pay a little more for a private ride. Prices are fixed according to a prediction of how many passengers are likely to travel on a given day and at a given time. When booking a ride, passengers state the time of their arrival at the pick-up airport and the company keeps up to date with any potential delays.

Passengers can save money by being flexible, for example if they are willing to arrive at the airport earlier than they really need to, or are willing to have a short wait for passengers to arrive on subsequent flights when they want a pick up from arrivals.

As the company has grown it has taken on franchisees to enable full coverage of Slovenia and the availability of differently sized vehicles to meet various requirements.
