Ruperče, Slovenske gorice – Project “Among Hills and Stars” with a House with a Scenic Terrace

The project “Between Hills and Stars” is a unique concept and design of living, set in the picturesque natural environment of the Slovenske gorice mountains, only 10 minutes drive from Maribor towards Austria. It was conceived in collaboration with the award-winning Slovenian artist, academic painter Oto Rimele, who contributed his original vision. The project comprises two architectural units, the House with a Viewing Terrace (HRT) and the House with a Painting Studio (HSS), which together form a harmonious living space between nature, art and contemporary architecture. Location

Ruperče is located east of Maribor, surrounded by wine-growing hills, which are considered to be the gateway to the Slovenske gorice region. The village has about 395 inhabitants and is situated at an altitude of 337 m above sea level. It is known for its unspoilt nature, vineyards and pleasant living environment, with close proximity to urban centres and fast access to Maribor and Austria.

 

Author’s design

The project was designed and conceptualised by Prof. Oto Rimele, who is known for his holistic approach to design and art. His work combines visual aesthetics, functionality and harmony with the natural environment. In the design of “Between the Hills and the Stars”, Rimele has combined architecture with nature to create a living environment that fosters a connection between people and space.

 

House with a Viewing Terrace 

The Terrace House is designed as a two-storey building that combines functional and aesthetic elements of contemporary architecture. The house offers an open terrace with a summer kitchen that is usable throughout the seasons, creating a pleasant transition to the interior spaces with living room, dining room, gallery and sanitary facilities. The terrace offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and is the perfect place for gatherings under the stars.

 

The lower floor of the house is dedicated to private living. It comprises a living room, master bedroom, two bedrooms, two luxurious bathrooms with sauna, study, storage room and atrium. The special feature of this floor is the open fireplace, which creates a meditative atmosphere, and the intimate atrium, which connects the interior spaces with the outside environment. The design of the house emphasises the contact with nature through large glazed areas and private terraces.

All the technical plans and consents for obtaining the building permit are already in place. The project is currently in the phase of obtaining the permit and starting construction.
