High-end Slovenian footwear designer Alja Viryent to open small-scale operation in the home of the Slovenian shoe-making industry

The western Slovenian town Tržič was for decades known as the centre of the country’s shoemaking industry but all that came to an abrupt end in January 2016 when the Peko company closed down.

Now at least a part of the former Peko factory will get a new lease of life and maintain its connection with footwear as high-end footwear designer Alja Viryent takes over part of the premises to launch a small-scale operation employing a team of ten former employees of Peko and training them to produce high-quality shoes.

Alja Viryent has been designing shoes since 2005 and her collections include smart leather shoes for men and unique glamorous evening shoes for stylish women.
