Five Slovenian artists are to feature in the first Slovenian Art Month in the United Arab Emirates

September sees the inaugural Slovenian Art Month, in which five Slovenian artists will spend four weeks in the United Arab Emirates as artists-in-residence. The participating artists – Klemen Brun, Barbara Demšar, Maša Gala, Jože Šubic and Aljaž Vidrajz – were selected from 20 hopefuls.

The event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Art Hub which aims to promote cross-cultural exchange and interaction, focusing on emerging artists in fields such as sculpture, painting and other visual arts. So far the Art Hub has hosted Native American artists, as well as ones from Macedonia and Russia.

The artists will get an opportunity to travel within the UAE and experience the country’s unique culture which it is hoped will inspire creativity among the participating artists. The works they create during the four-week residence will go on show in the final week.
