Woodworking specialists Mitja have been showing their contemporary furniture and home-wares around Europe
Slovenian family company Mitja, which makes sleek, stylish furniture has been turning heads at the prestigious Maison & Objet show in Paris this month.
What is interesting about Mitja’s furniture is that while the company has a modern brand image and contemporary products, part of its strength lies in more than 80 years experience in woodworking. The design element comes from the young designers who work in partnership to produce eye-catching but understated chairs, tables, and stools as well as a range of tactile home-wares which show off the natural beauty of the materials. As well as various kinds of wood, Mitja’s designs feature other natural materials such as leather, marble, and copper.
All Mitja products are made by hand and the company pride itself on the attention to detail it pays in particular to choosing the right wood, seasoning it ready for use and focusing on the grain.
From tomorrow (21 September) until Friday (24 September), Mitja will also be showing their beautiful designs in London at the 100%design show at Olympia.
